Robert Childs is an Associate member of the Royal College of Music, a Fellow of the London College and recently gained the distinction of an honourary Masters Degree from the University of Leeds. He is currently tutor to the National Youth Bands of Great Britain, Wales and Switzerland and lower brass specialist at Hull, Leeds and Sheffield Universities. He is also head of Brass at Hymers College, Hull and a consultant to Boosey and Hawkes Musical Instruments Ltd.
As an international soloist he has performed in Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, the Grieg Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and the Sydney Opera House. He frequently delivers lectures in universities at home and abroad and has several publications to his name.
Robert is currently solo euphonium and assistant conductor to the Black Dyke Band and has, over 20 years, played with most of Britain's leading Brass Bands. He has also made guest appearences with the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, as well as Birmingham Symphonic Winds.
