BBC Midlands Today presenter Michael Collie narrates at BSW's next concert

Michael Collie is best known in Birmingham as a presenter of BBC Midlands Today.

“I first came to Birmingham when I went to university here,” he comments. “And, other than one year in London, I’ve essentially been here ever since.

Michael studied Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham before touring Harold Pinter’s “The Lover” in Britain and France. After that he moved to broadcasting, starting as a newsreader at BBC WM in Birmingham.

“I was always getting cast as either God or a newsreader,” he jokes, “so I thought I’d better get a job as one of them – and only the newsreader job was vacant.”

Since then he has worked as a presenter on Countryfile, Top Gear and Paddles Up on television , as well as on programmes like You and Yours on Radio 4. And now, Midlands Today.

Michael will bring to life the narrator's role in The Sword and the Crown at BSW's next concert on Saturday 17 March 2012. Click here to visit for more information.
