WHO WE ARE

Birmingham Symphonic Winds aims to promote enterprise and excellence through its performances

ouTreach

We are committed to supporting and developing the musical education of children and young people, expanding their musical interests and experiences, and inspiring a lifelong appreciation of live performance.

Since 2013 Birmingham Symphonic Winds has offered a one hour Saturday morning children's concert, which has given opportunities for young and adults to join in, hear the sounds and learn about the instruments.

Programmes have included a live accompaniment to the film 'The Snowman' by  Raymond Briggs.

Music from Walt Disney's film 'Frozen'.

In 2014 Birmingham Symphonic Winds were invited along with their Music Director Keith Allen to become “Ensemble in Residence” at Birmingham University forging links between Birmingham Symphonic Winds and the University Wind Band. Since then some members of Birmingham Symphonic Winds have led sectional rehearsals with BUWB on a regular basis and both groups have shared concerts at the Elgar Concert Hall on the University campus. Keith Allen mentors the student conductors on both repertoire and rehearsal technique.
