Birmingham Symphonic Winds return to the CBSO Centre, Birmingham for an enjoyable afternoon of music to take you on a journey from urban New York City via the stunning Californian mountain range of Sierra Nevada through to the catchy rhythms of Latin America.

Clarinet soloist Sarah Williamson will dazzle in her performance of the Artie Shaw Clarinet Concerto which displays virtuosic clarinet boogie woogie at its best! One of Classic FM’s favourites Nigel Hess is featured in his composition ’New York’ from East Coast Pictures, together with a beautiful depiction of the wondrous panoramic grandeur in Philip Sparke’s ‘Sierra Nevada.’ Andy Scott’s ‘Paquito’ features catchy Latin American rhythms and David Maslanka’s ‘Golden Light’ depicts an energetic walk in Central Park. No performance of music to celebrate America can be complete without George Gershwin - BSW will perform his Cuban Overture and the Humoresque on Swanee, as arranged by Sousa.
